What does it take to deliver energy storage projects in WA’s unique operating environment? Bringing together developers, industry and technology providers, this session will examine real-world BESS and long-duration storage projects, covering technology selection, grid integration, project economics, construction and operational challenges, and lessons learned from projects underway in WA and overseas.

As global energy security and cost pressures intensify, reducing emissions is increasingly competing with economic growth and power reliability. This panel will explore the tension between gas reliability, energy security demands, and long-term net-zero mandates, examining how government policies and economic and technical realities are reshaping the trajectory of CCS. Panelists will address solutions to supply chain and regulatory bottlenecks while highlighting Western Australia's geological storage capacity. The session will also examine the commercial challenges of regional carbon trade, bilateral policy alignment, and cross-border CO2 transport infrastructure.

This panel explores what neurodiversity can teach the energy industry about recognising talent, recruitment, workplace design, future skills and how people work differently — rather than positioning neurodiversity around specific “strengths” or stereotypes. Expect representation from different parts of the system: lived experience, engineering/technical roles, recruitment and workforce, workplace design and future skills.
