Olaf de Swart graduated as an Aerospace Engineering MSc. in 2008 on the subject of flexible solar modules. He started working at the R&D department of a large maritime company. His passion for solar energy never disappeared. During his time at the maritime company the idea rose to combine maritime, aerospace and solar knowledge and the company SolarDuck was born. SolarDuck is developing an offshore floating power & utilities hub, a small solar powered semi-sub, which can be used to provide a range of services far offshore, such as powering remote CCS or O&G SPS for example. At SolarDuck Olaf is Head of BD APAC from the Tokyo office, where Japan’s the first offshore floating solar project was launched by SolarDuck in 2024.
