Gus Riggs is the Head of Strategy, Government Relations & Sustainability at Western Power, where he leads long term strategic planning to ensure a reliable, resilient and future ready electricity network for Western Australia. With extensive experience in energy policy and regulatory reform, he plays a key role in positioning Western Power to support the State’s energy transition and long term system needs.
Gus is a strong advocate for strategic transmission investment to unlock renewable generation and enable new industrial and economic opportunities. He also ensures Western Power’s modular grid initiatives, including stand alone power systems and retrospective undergrounding programs, are embedded within broader network strategy to enhance resilience and improve customer outcomes.
In his government relations role, Gus works closely with policymakers and industry stakeholders to ensure Western Power’s strategic planning aligns with WA’s energy transition objectives and emerging infrastructure needs, helping the grid evolve to meet the expectations of our community.
