Bill Townsend

Bill Townsend is Senior Vice President
Corporate at INPEX.
In this role, Bill oversees the Corporate
Affairs, Finance, Treasury & Technology and
Joint Venture Management functions in
Australia as well as INPEX’s corporate
interests in the Northern Territory.
Bill joined INPEX in 2006.
Beginning his career as a US Navy submarine
officer, Bill entered the oil and gas industry
in 1994 as a Business Advisor to BP Russia
based in Moscow.
Further commercial and external affairs
assignments followed with BP in Azerbaijan
and Georgia.
Bill arrived in Australia in 2004 to take up the
role of Joint Venture Coordination Manager
for the North West Shelf Ventures at
Woodside Energy.
Prior to his current responsibilities as Senior
Vice President Corporate, Bill served in a
variety of roles at INPEX including Joint
Venture Manager, General Manager External
Affairs and Vice President Corporate.
Bill earned a BA (Political Science) from
Northwestern University and an MBA from
Dartmouth College.
Bill serves on the boards of Australian Energy
Producers (AEP) and the Australian
Resources & Energy Employer Association
(AREEA). He is a member of the Executive
Council of the Chamber of Minerals and
Energy of Western Australia (CME) and the
Council of Governors for the American
Chamber of Commerce in Australia. Bill also
sits on the advisory boards of the Starlight
Children’s Foundation (WA/NT) and the WA
Maritime Museum and actively supports the
Committee for Perth.
