Alireza Fereidouni

Dr. Alireza Fereidouni is an Engineering Manager at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), bringing more than a decade of combined industry and academic experience in the Power and Energy sector. With a strong foundation in electrical engineering and a proven track record of technical leadership, Alireza has contributed extensively to advancing power system engineering practices in Western Australia.
At AEMO, he leads multiple engineering teams responsible for Generator Performance Standards and Monitoring, Network Access Quantity (engineering stream), Congestion Modelling, and broader system engineering functions. His work focuses on delivering innovative, technically robust solutions to complex challenges in the WA energy landscape, working closely with key stakeholders including Western Power, Synergy, and Energy Policy WA.

Alireza holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Curtin University and has authored more than 20 technical papers in journals and international conferences. Earlier in his career, he held roles across research, development, and academia.

He previously served as both Chapter Chair and Vice Chair of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Western Australia Chapter, where he played a key role in strengthening the professional community and promoting technical excellence. His contributions to the sector have been recognised through several honours, including being named the Western Australia Energy Professional of the Year by the Australian Institute of Energy in 2024.
