Steve Lanyi – Assistant Director – WA Business, Industry and Regional Outreach (BIRO).
Steve is based in the Perth office of the Department of Home Affairs managing a team of Business, Industry and Regional Outreach officers (BIROs) who work closely with Government, industry and regional business stakeholders to provide information on Skilled Migration programs and visa options to address workforce needs and skill shortages across Australia. Steve’s WA based team specialise in several key industry sectors including Resources, Minerals and Energy, Renewables, Net Zero and the Education and Early Childhood to support Australia’s skilled workforce needs and economic development.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Psychology from Murdoch University and he has over 20 years’ industry and visa experience working across the Home Affairs and Immigration portfolio. He has broad visa program knowledge having worked in both the Immigration and Australian Border Force (ABF) portfolios in a range of industry engagement, visa processing and compliance and enforcement roles during his career. Steve is a regular presenter ar major industry and regional events and conferences as part of his BIRO role with the Department of Home Affairs.
