Mark was born in Brisbane, Queensland, graduating with a BMechEng degree from QUT. His subsea oil and gas career began soon after graduation, initially working in the UK North Sea, on the first subsea tieback to Piper Alpha Platform, which was shelved following destruction of the host.
Mark is an Engineers Australia Fellow and chartered engineer in the areas of subsea engineering and leadership and management, being in the first group of subsea engineers in Australia to be chartered.
He has more than thirty-eight years subsea experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, in all phases of subsea facilities engineering, from concept selection to operations support, for operators, engineering consultants and vendors in the North Sea and Asia Pacific region.
Mark is currently the Vice-Chair of the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) Perth Branch, having been on the SUT committee since 2015.
