Born on May 30, 1965, in Salerno, Italy, Paolo Crudele graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Salerno in 1989. He joined Italy’s National Diplomatic Service in 1992, starting in the Directorate General for Economic Affairs. His diplomatic career took him first to Guatemala, followed by a significant tenure in Madrid from 2000 to 2004, where he was promoted to Counsellor. Back in Rome, he became Head of Office at the Directorate General for America, then moved to the Secretariat General in 2007.
From 2009 to 2013, Crudele served in Beijing, initially as Head of the Trade Office, later as Deputy Head of Mission. In 2013, he was appointed as Italy’s Ambassador to Singapore, with secondary accreditation to Brunei. Returning to Italy in 2017, he took up the role of Deputy Director General for Migration Policies and International Mobility. Since August 12, 2022, he has been serving as Italy’s Ambassador to Australia, with further accreditation to Fiji, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu.
