There is a chance that active demonstration activity may take place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre during AOG Energy. AOG supports the right of people to protest peacefully.
We take the safety and security of all our exhibitors, partners and attendees very seriously. A significant amount of planning has gone into the security management of the event, should any demonstration take place. All those involved with AOG Energy should be reassured that their safety has been the primary concern from the outset. The event will be well resourced and supported by WA Police.
The most likely threat of civil unrest will emanate from activist and issue motivated groups that have an anti-resource sector, anti-fossil fuel or climate change agenda. With this in mind, there will be a number of additional security measures in place when you arrive. Including Police officers, venue security, safety barriers and a number of security checkpoints.
ENTRY TO THE VENUE
Please aim to arrive early, particularly on day 1, and allow extra time to get through security checks and registration. Attendees are advised that entrance to the PCEC via the public entries to the front are likely to be disrupted by protesters.
Although the protest has been advertised as non-violent, there is a chance that anyone attempting to use this entry could be targeted with verbal abuse and in the worst case, physical confrontation. Delegates are advised not to attempt entrance to the Plaza Forecourt by vehicle. It is recommended that delegates avoid the Plaza Forecourt entirely and enter via the underground City of Perth car park, via either the lift or stairwell which arrive directly in front of Pavilion 3, as depicted by the green arrow on the map below.
It is recommended that attendees entering the PCEC attempt to cover up any branding on their clothing, or not wear branding at all. Attendees should conceal their registration badge when exiting the venue.
