Critical Health & Safety Conversations tabled at AOG Conference
They say prevention is the best cure, and that is a major focus for the oil and gas industry’s Health & Safety specialists.
With the safety of thousands of workers in their hands, along with the precious environment, critical energy supplies and billions of dollars in equipment, it is no wonder that Health & Safety is a major focus for the global petroleum industry.
It has been identified that attending and participating in key industry events is an important part of a Health & Safety specialist’s professional development, not only in lessons learned but also in having the opportunity to network and meet people of similar interests.
One of the keys in this regard is ensuring that you identify and attend the right events.
With a 30 plus year history of being one of Australia’s leading oil and gas events and a Conference programme packed with high calibre Safety content, AOG 2015 absolutely fits that requirement.
The AOG 2015 Conference is a must attend event for anyone in the Health & Safety area, particularly if you are working in the oil and gas industry.
The Conference has a major stream dedicated to topics of interest for those involved in “Managing Contractor Health & Safety” – which features a programme of presentations and panel sessions on Wednesday, March 11.
The stream is being driven by and involves leaders in their field who have together structured content that will fill the interest of all Health & Safety professionals.
The Managing Contractor Health & Safety stream includes a number of keynote presentations including “Rethinking Contractor Safety Management”, presented by Greg Smith of STE Safety & Legal, Drafting Offshore Commercial Contracts to Manage Health and Safety Risks, by Sam Witton of Herbert Smith Freehills, Contractor Engagement: Delivering better safety outcomes can enable better cost and schedule management, presented by Graham Punler of Worley Parsons Services, Contractors are Not Footballs so Please Don’t Kick Them!, presented by Michael Gray of MG Training and Development Pty Ltd.
The stream also included highly informed panel discussions on: “Drilling Down to It”: Managing safety off and on shore – a legal panel including Mr Smith, Mr Witton and Rowan Kelly of Herbert Smith Freehills; and Up Close and Personal with Safety Leaders – a facilitated panel discussion featuring Aaron Neilson (Safesearch), Gavin Guyan (NOPSEMA,) Neil Yann (Technip Oceania), Rhonda Yoder (Chevron Australia) and David Provan (Origin Energy).
There is also a special Health, Safety and Environment Zone on the AOG exhibition floor. This Zone will spotlight on the importance of health and safety in the oil and gas industry and will be a perfect place for an exchange of knowledge with your peers.
If you are a Health & Safety professional or want to learn more about this specialist field, then AOG 2015 has something for you.
